Each Soldo card is linked to a funding source (wallet). This defines where the card’s payment funds come from and how spending is managed. Over time, you might need to change a card’s funding source to better reflect your company’s structure or spending needs.
When to change a funding source
Changing a card’s funding source can help keep your spending organised and ensure that funds are always available when needed. You might want to do this if:
- A team or project structure changes: For example, a user’s card originally linked to their personal User wallet could be moved to a Company wallet to enable shared team spending.
- You need tighter control of funds: Switching a company card from a shared wallet to a Reserved wallet ensures its funds can only be used by that card.
- You want to simplify fund management: Moving multiple cards to draw from a single wallet can make top-ups and tracking easier.
- Your available funds have shifted: If one wallet runs low, you can change the funding source so that the card draws from another wallet instead.
Whatever the reason, changing a funding source helps you stay in control without disrupting how your teams spend.
How to change a card’s funding source
You can update a card’s funding source directly in the web app. Here’s how:
- From the navigation menu, select Cards.
- Choose the card whose funding source you want to change.
- In the Overview tab, click the three dots (more options) in the top-right corner.
- From the options, select Change wallet.
- Pick the type of wallet you want the card to draw money from (e.g. Main/Company, User or Reserved).
- Select the wallet you want from the list displayed and click Confirm.
Once confirmed, the card will draw funds from its new wallet. The change takes effect immediately. You'll need to make sure that the new wallet has the appropriate funds available for the card.
