VAT rates help your team manage VAT consistently when enriching transactions. When a VAT rate is selected, Soldo automatically calculates the VAT amount based on the percentage you’ve configured.
This reduces manual input, improves accuracy, and makes reporting and reconciliation easier for finance teams.
Create a new VAT rate
- In the web app, go to Configure > Transaction settings > Transaction fields.
- Select View next to VAT rates.
- Select Add item.
- Enter a name for the VAT rate.
- Enter the percentage (for example, enter 20 for 20%).
- Optional: Add a code and description to help identify the VAT rate in reports.
- Select Create to save.
Enable or disable a VAT rate
You can enable or disable VAT rates at any time. Disabled VAT rates won’t appear as options during transaction enrichment.
- Go to Configure > Transaction settings > Transaction fields > VAT rates.
- Use the toggle next to each VAT rate to enable or disable it.
Edit or delete a VAT rate
Edit a VAT rate
- Go to Configure > Transaction settings > Transaction fields > VAT rates.
- Select Edit next to the VAT rate you want to change.
- Update the name, percentage, code, or description.
- Select Save.
Delete a VAT rate
- From the VAT rates list, select the Delete icon next to the VAT rate you want to remove.
- Select Yes, delete to confirm.
Control VAT rate visibility
You can control which users can see VAT rates. This will determine the visibility of all VAT rates, not individual VAT rates.
Control VAT rate visibility by role
- Go to Configure > Transaction settings > Transaction fields > VAT rates.
- Select Manage visibility.
- Select Edit.
- Use the Roles dropdown to select or deselect roles.
- Select Confirm.
Control VAT rate visibility for specific users
If you choose to limit VAT rate visibility based on user roles, you can still allow specific users within that role to continue seeing VAT rates. Once you've disabled visibility for the role, you’ll have the option to select individual users who should retain access.
- From the visibility settings screen, deselect the relevant role(s) (see steps above).
- Select Include users.
- Use the Users dropdown to select which users should still have access.
- Select Confirm.
How VAT rates work during transaction enrichment
When enriching a transaction, users can choose a VAT rate from a dropdown. The dropdown will only show VAT rates that are:
- Enabled
- Visible to the user’s role (or specifically included for that user)
Once selected, Soldo automatically calculates the VAT amount based on the configured percentage.
Using OCR? If your plan includes OCR, Soldo can automatically detect VAT information from a receipt or invoice. If a matching VAT rate exists in your VAT rate list, Soldo will apply it automatically.
