What are subscription cards?
Subscription cards are dedicated virtual cards designed specifically for recurring online payments like software subscriptions, memberships, or digital tools. Each card can be assigned to one or more users, giving teams the flexibility to manage shared subscriptions securely and transparently.
Why use subscription cards?
Subscription cards make it easier to manage recurring payments across your company. Whether you’re a Super admin looking for control, or an Employee responsible for one or more tools, subscription cards help in several ways:
- All your subscriptions in one place: See every active subscription at a glance. Just log in to the web app, select Subscriptions from the menu, and you’ll get a complete view — including payment frequency, assignees, funding source, last spend, and total spend.
- Easy to manage: Assign, edit, or delete subscription cards anytime via the web app.
- Improved visibility: Identify duplicate or unused subscriptions at a glance.
- Keep control at all times: Lock and unlock cards whenever needed.
- Easy to share: Assign cards to multiple users when a subscription is shared across teams or departments.
Who can create and manage subscription cards?
Super admins and Admins can create, edit, assign, and delete subscription cards. Employees can view and activate the cards they’re assigned to, and use them to manage payments with their providers.
How to create a new subscription card
- Log in to the web app.
- From the left-side menu, select Subscriptions.
- Select Create a subscription.
- Enter a name for the subscription.
- Choose a provider from the dropdown. If it’s not listed, select Other.
- Select one or more assignees who will use the virtual card.
- Add a short description (e.g. “Monthly plan for Figma”).
- Select a wallet (Main or Company wallet) as the funding source.
- Set a payment frequency: Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly, Yearly, or Other.
- Select Create subscription.
The subscription card is now ready to be activated.
Tip: You'll need to make sure that your chosen wallet (funding source) for the subscription card has sufficient funds to cover the cost of the subscription. With Soldo, you can set up automatic transfers so your wallet never runs out of money. For more information on automatic transfers, refer to these articles:
