Create and assign cards
Super Admins can create cards based on the specific needs of the users utilising them.
User cards are assigned to employees and used primarily for user-specific expenses, such as travel or employee training; whereas Company cards can be used for specific or project-based expenses, such as 'Advertising' or 'Project X'.
| User card | Company card |
| Assigned to users for user-specific company expenses | Assigned to users, groups, teams for specific or project-based expenses |
| Named after the user it was created for | Named after the project or specific expense it was created for |
| Can have only one assignee | Can have multiple assignees |
Visit this link to see how you can order cards for users. In the process of creating cards, you can assign them to specific users, label them, and assign a currency to them, among other things.
Visualise and manage cards
With Soldo, it’s possible to get an overview of all the cards that have been created and assigned to different users and groups of users.
By clicking on the Cards section, you will be presented with a table view and filters. Here you will be able to see each card’s name, activation status, number, type, assignee, group, balance, and amount spent. Simply click on the relevant card to get a detailed look at its transactions and the rules that apply to it (e.g. spending limits, contactless, permitted expense categories, etc.). You can also see the wallet linked to the card in the top right corner, below the ‘Available balance.’
Delete cards
Deleting a card is a simple and permanent process. After you have selected the relevant card in the Cards section, click on the three dots in the top right and select ‘Delete card.’ This action can’t be undone. For more information on how to delete a card, see this article.
With Soldo, you’re always in control. You decide:
- Who can spend
- What funds they have access to
- How much they can spend, and how often
- Where and how they can spend
Any user in your Soldo account can be assigned a card, whether they’re an Employee, Admin, or Leader. Cards can be virtual or plastic, depending on your team’s needs.
Note: The number of cards you can create and the card issuing fees depend on your Soldo plan. You can find more details on our pricing page.
Types of Soldo cards
User cards
User cards are single-user cards. Each card is linked to one specific employee (user) and can’t be transferred to someone else. Only the assigned user can use the card.
When to use: These cards are ideal for employees who spend regularly, such as on travel, meals, or equipment.
Company cards
Company cards are multi-user cards. These can be shared by several users, making them ideal for teams, departments, or projects where multiple people need access to shared funds.
When to use: Choose a Company card when you need to enable group spending — for example, for a team budget or a short-term project.
Link cards to wallets
When you create a card, you’ll decide how to fund it by linking it to a wallet. Linking a card to a wallet gives it access to that wallet’s funds. You control spending by adjusting the balance in the wallet and applying specific card rules and spending limits to the card.
Whether you choose a User card or a Company card, you’ll always have the tools to manage spend in real time and stay in control of your company’s money.
What you can do with cards
Cards are a powerful way to enable spending across your organisation — but with built-in rules, permissions, and alerts that help you stay in control. From the Cards section in the web app, you can:
- View and filter all cards across your company
- Search for cards or view delivery addresses and expiry dates
- Create new User cards or Company cards
- Download a list of cards
- Apply and manage card rules such as spending and withdrawal limits
- Lock or report cards as lost, stolen, or compromised for immediate security
- Change the funding source (wallet) for a card
- Transfer funds, set up periodic or low-balance transfers, and create alerts
- Assign card rule presets in bulk for consistency and speed
With these tools, you can keep company spending organised, predictable, and aligned to your budgets — all without slowing your teams down.
Role-based permissions
Super admins
Super admins have full visibility and control over every card in the account. They can create, configure, and monitor all spending activity to ensure the company remains compliant and efficient. Super admins can:
- View, filter, and search all cards (user and company)
- See card delivery addresses and expiry dates
- Create new cards and assign them to users, groups, or projects
- View card details, transactions, balances, and rules
- Lock, delete, or report cards as lost or stolen
- Change funding sources and apply card rule presets
- Set alerts for low balance or declined transactions
- Schedule periodic or low-balance transfers
- Download a complete list of cards
Some advanced options depend on your company’s pricing plan.
Admins
Admins can manage most card-related tasks and maintain financial control, but without access to sensitive details such as card numbers or PINs. They can:
- View and filter all cards on the account
- View card transactions and balance
- Lock or report cards as lost or stolen
- Modify spending, withdrawal limits and other rules
- Apply card rule presets and transfer funds
- Set and manage alerts
- Send PIN reminders
Leaders (Managers)
Leaders can help their teams spend responsibly while keeping projects on track. They can manage their own cards and have visibility over the cards assigned to their team members. Leaders can:
- View their own and their team members’ cards and transactions
- Modify card rules and spending limits for team cards
- Assign card rule presets for consistent spending policies
- Transfer funds and manage alerts
- Send PIN reminders to team members
For privacy reasons, Leaders can’t view sensitive card details such as card numbers or PINs.
Employees
Employees can view and manage their own cards to stay in control of their business spending. They can:
- View their own cards and delivery addresses
- View their card details and PIN
- Check when their card is due to expire
- View transactions, balances, and spending limits
- Lock their card or report it as lost, stolen, or damaged
- See which rules apply to their card (read-only)
This visibility helps employees understand company spending policies and act quickly if their card is compromised.
Why this matters
Cards in Soldo connect freedom with control. They make spending simple while giving finance teams the insight they need to manage budgets, track projects, and keep every transaction accountable. Every card is backed by built-in rules, permissions, security, and alerts, helping you enable smart, compliant spending at scale.
